Michael Buerk will be taking part in the Royal Variety Performance on Sunday 21st December at 7pm on ITV. This year’s show will dedicate a special segment to the anniversary of Live Aid which inspired the West End musical of the same name. It was Michael’s reporting from the site of the famine in Ethiopia in 1984 that let to the creation of Live Aid concerts by Bob Geldof and the worldwide awareness of the emergency.

Congratulations to Michael Crawford who has been recognised with the prestigious award, the Kennedy Center Honors, which recognises his outstanding contributions to the performing arts. The ceremony was held in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
President Donald Trump presented the medal to Michael in the Oval Office, before the gala tribute at the Kennedy Center Opera House. The evening marked the 48th annual celebration of lifetime achievement in the arts, with Crawford joining fellow honourees Sylvester Stallone, Gloria Gaynor, George Strait, and legendary rock band KISS.
