Ayshah Tull is a BAFTA nominated presenter and journalist for Channel 4 News. Ayshah received her BAFTA nomination for her work on Black to Front, the special television initiative from Channel 4 – and her first presenting role with the channel. The initiative consisted of a full day of programming entirely led by Black talent, on-screen and behind the camera. The show was described as a “ground-breaking” TV first. Ayshah received her BAFTA nomination for her work on Black to Front, the special television initiative from Channel 4 – and her first presenting role with the channel. The initiative consisted of a full day of programming entirely led by Black talent, on-screen and behind the camera. The show was described as a “ground-breaking” TV first.
Ayshah joined Channel 4 News in 2019 and is now the programme’s Health Correspondent alongside presenting. Her broadcasting on the show includes leading coverage from the Caribbean on death of Queen Elizabeth, reflecting on the commonwealth’s response. She also covered the 2020 US Elections, travelling to several US states whilst the COVID-19 pandemic was on-going, and spending time in Florida to interview Donald Trump supporters. Throughout the pandemic, she reported on the biggest developments, challenging the Prime Minister and Health Secretary on their policies and deputising for the Health and Social Care Editor.
Since joining Channel 4 News, Ayshah has won four awards (in one year) for her journalism. In 2020 she won Journalist of the Year and the Grand Prize at The Drum Online Media Awards, the first time this has been awarded to an individual.
Ayshah has presented an edition of Unreported World for Channel 4 – Divorce Mauritania Style.
From 2013 to 2018, Ayshah presented Newsround for CBBC. Here she covered the 2016 US elections, travelling to Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania to talk to children about their feelings ahead of the big vote. She also presented and reported the Manchester terror attack and navigated children through the challenging story.
Ayshah has hosted several high-profile events for the Science Museum, the British Library, Latitude Festival and V&A Museum.
Ayshah is also a Senior Fellow for the John Schofield Trust and she mentors young journalists, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to help them navigate their career.
When she is not presenting on television, Ayshah can often be heard on BBC Radio 5 Live, where she is the regular cover for Naga Munchetty.
