Mark Longhurst

Mark has nearly 40 years experience as a presenter and reporter in print, radio and television. He trained with the BBC and went on to work for ITN, Channel 4, TVam, LWT, Thames and BBC World.

It has recently been announced that Mark is to join ITV News West Country to co-present the region’s flagship 6pm news programme.

For the past 20 years he has been a senior presenter at Sky News, part of a team that has won the RTS News Channel of the Year ten times. Most recently he anchored Sky News at Ten and the top-rated Press Previews with its panel of high profile opinion-makers. He was a nominee for last year’s Broadcast awards after hosting Sky Arts’ ground- breaking behind the scenes election coverage in 2015.

In a wide-ranging career he has interviewed several Prime Ministers including Margaret Thatcher, John Major and Gordon Brown, international statesmen such as Benjamin Netanyahu and many high profile public figures from HRH Prince Charles to David Bowie.

He broadcast live from Berlin as the Wall came down and also witnessed the collapse of communism in the Soviet Union.

In the past decade he has covered many major breaking stories live on air, most recently the Paris terrorist attacks and previously the disappearance of Flight MH 370, the Japanese Tsunami, the arrest and execution of Saddam Hussein, the 7/7 London bombings and the fall of Baghdad in the second Gulf War.

Away from the news agenda in 2011 his Donald Campbell documentary for the History Channel - made with the assistance of the record-breaker’s family - met with critical acclaim.

As Sky’s Business Correspondent he covered many budgets and as part of the presenting team for the Sky Business Report interviewed captains of industry, city analysts and entrepreneurs.

Mark has also been part of the Sky mentoring project with the NCTJ and was lecturer on the University of Sussex MA course in Broadcast Journalism.
