Joan Bakewell’s broadcasting career continues into its fourth decade with her series for BBC Radio 3: Belief. She also appears on Radio 4’s Saturday Live, BBC 1’s Daily Politics, and GMTV’s Sunday programme. Her latest play was broadcast on Radio 4 in 2007. Her first novel will be published early in 2009.

Music is never far from Jonathan Charles’ ears. He’s famous for sitting through artillery bombardments with his MP3 player on, during his job as a BBC foreign correspondent. Irek Mukhamedov OBE is one of the world's most famous male dancers.
He made his debut with The Bolshoi Company in 1981 and became their leading male dancer touring the world with the company. He joined the Royal Ballet in June 1990 where he has danced hundreds of different ballets, including many that were specifically created for him by the world's top choreographers.

John Julius Norwich has written histories of Venice, the Byzantine Empire, Norman Sicily and the Mediterranean, together with books on Shakespeare's history plays, music and architecture. He has also written two travel books, on Mount Athos and the Sahara, and has lectured - on all these and several other subjects - in Europe, North America and Australia. He has been Chairman of Colnaghi - the oldest fine art dealers in London, of the Venice in Peril Fund and of the World Monuments Fund in Britain, and has served on the Executive Committee of the National Trust and the Board of the English National Opera. He also produces an annual anthology, A Christmas Cracker, and has twice performed for a week in small London theatres, interspersing readings from these anthologies with songs to the piano.

Hallie Rubenhold is an author and social historian whose expertise lies in the early modern period (17th, 18th and 19th centuries). Her book, The Covent Garden Ladies was filmed as a documentary, The Harlot's Handbook, and presented by Hallie for the BBC as part of the highly successful, The Century that Made Us season. She has since appeared as an expert contributor on numerous documentaries and has acted as historical consultant for period dramas, including Channel 4's The Harlot's Progress, Living TV's Living with the Dead and a five-part series, City of Vice.

 

Catrina's television career took off in the early 90's with This Morning for ITV and Good Morning With Anne and Nick, for BBC 1, where Catrina interviewed the famed and fortuned from across the globe. In 1998, Catrina had her own series on NBC Super Channel V.I.P - a nightly show where she conducted interviews with a wide range of personalities including historians, authors, scientists, entrepreneurs and politicians. He danced as a soloist with The Royal Ballet from 1992 to 2008, with leading roles including Eros in Sir Frederick Ashton’s Sylvia and Benvolio in Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo & Juliet. He also created roles in works by Ashley Page, Mitjash Mrozweski and Michael Corder revealing his creative talent for invention.

Sandrine Voillet, presenter of the BBC2 series Paris is an art historian who has worked in a number of museums and art galleries. She was educated at the Ecole du Louvre where she specialized in the history of art from the Far East.

Tim Willcox is a presenter with BBC News. Tim is a former Arts and Media Correspondent at ITV where among other things he covered the Cannes Film Festival and BAFTAS.
