Phil Lavelle

Phil Lavelle is a news correspondent for BBC Breakfast where he's worked full time since 2009. Before joining Breakfast, he was one of the main faces of Five News and an Entertainment Correspondent/Presenter for Sky News.

He also spent two years as a Presenter and Reporter for BBC London TV. He trained on the job, starting as a researcher with Granada Television at the age of 17 and then become a junior reporter with Tyne Tees Television. He went to become Five News' youngest ever newsreader and then spent two year's honing his production skills as a key member of the launch editorial team with Al Jazeera English in London.

A complete and utter technology geek (borderline obsessive), Phil's main work concentrates on consumer, factual stories though his previous roles mean he's just as comfortable covering entertainment and international affairs.

He has experience of presenting award ceremonies and can be relied on to work on productions where live ad-libbing is required with no effort.
